Hello! Welcome to my first ever post on my brand new blog, Coffee Kids & Ice Cream. Thank you so much for reading. As some of you may, or may not, know, I have been writing for Natalie at the super Style Me Sunday for the last year or so, which has been fantastic, and has kept me sane during a rocky second pregnancy and the first six months of newborn fun. Now that things have settled down a tiny amount in the Capocci household, I thought it was high time I should pull my finger out and start writing my sleep deprived ramblings on my own blog.
So, why Coffee, Kids & Ice Cream? Coffee – I mainline the stuff and simply I currently couldn’t survive without it. Kids – my life is ruled by them, and lastly, ice cream. Ice cream provides the bread and butter for the Capocci family and by default our year is dictated by it, resulting in a very busy summer.
Before I became a full time mum, I was previously a crazed freelance PR, mainly working for consumer and entertainment agencies. The job was full on, but man I miss it, and it doesn’t even come close to the craziness of caring for two kids day in and day out. This blog is my attempt at bringing back a bit of the fun I found through work and some of the old “Me”.
So what am I going to be writing about? Well as well as my honest account of coping with the gruesome twosome, I have also set myself a couple of challenges. My husband is at work a lot over the summer and so it an effort to be positive and cut my moaning down to a minimum (yeh, right!?), I have decided to set myself a goal of doing at least one fun activity with the kids each week and reviewing it here. Current plans include simple day trips to the beach and local farms to the big stuff like glamping and Peppa Pig World (gotta love a theme park). Thanks to the wonderful Facebook members of Wanstead Mums and Bumps, I now have a huge list to work through. But by requesting their recommendations, I also discovered that there are lots of ladies locally who are in the same boat as me. Being a mum can be a lonely business so as part of this I will be letting people know what we’ll be doing each week, and if anyone fancies joining us, please do! More details will appear on my page 194 Days of Summer shortly.
Lastly, in a moment of madness I have decided to walk the Shine Night Marathon Walk on 26th September to raise vital funds for Cancer Research. I do a bit of walking with the double buggy, but I’m talking a mile or two, so this is going to be a big challenge. Training is going to take some serious time and effort, so if you see me pounding the streets of Wanstead, please do say hi. Chances are the bloody baby wouldn’t have slept and I’ll have blisters, so I’ll need all the encouragement I can get! But to keep me sane I will be detailing my “journey” on the blog including updates and photos (hopefully of the baby sleeping and the glorious British sunshine, not the pissing rain!) You can find more information on my page, Crap! I’m Walking A Marathon.
Thank you, thank you for taking the time to read my first post. With a young baby and toddler my updates may sometimes be few and far between, but please bear with me as I gain momentum and figure out what the hecky peck I’m doing. I would absolutely love your feedback and if there is anything you would like me to write about please do let me know.
