If, much like me, you’re late to the half-term planning party and have sweet FA organised to keep your kids entertained next week, fear not! I have pulled together a few last minute suggestions across East London and Essex to make sure the sprogs are satisfied and your that sanity stays in check (ish).
HARTMAN’S POP UP TEDDY BEAR PARTY! – MONDAY 15 FEB

A fun, interactive dance party by CBeebies’ Darren Hart. All ages welcome (whatever you do, don’t forget the darn teddy!)
STICK MAN ACTIVITY TRAIL – OPEN DAILY
Thames Chase Forest Centre, opens from 8am, post code RM14 3NS (centre open to buy activity pack 10am-4pm)
Just a 30min drive from East London is the Stick Man outdoor adventure trail. Buy an activity pack for £3 from the centre containing a trail leaflet, activity sheet, pencils, crayons and pipe cleaners (to make your own stick man) and take on the 1.5km walk. Parking is a reasonable £1 for a full day. There are also lots of good reviews for the cafe – bonus!

Especially for children aged 6-10 years (school years 2-5), wannabe whizz kids are promised a jam-packed morning of science themed fun including making your own slime, bouncy custard balls and bath bombs, you can become a detective for the day, and learn the science behind ice-cream making and more! DISCOVER CHILDREN’S STORY CENTRE – THROUGHOUT HALF TERM
Stratford High Street (easily accessible via Stratford tube)
If you’re pulling your hair out desperately trying to find something different for the kids to do this half term, do not despair. The dedicated team at the Discover Centre are hosting a wide range of activities for tiddlers and kids up to 8 years plus, including key events with amazing authors like Rob Biddulph, craft and illustrator sessions, and a Doodle Dance class with Greenwich Dance Studio. We will be checking out the Story Builders Snore! session for toddlers and babies on weekdays 11.30 & 1.30pm. Please note, booking in advance is recommended.
WILDLIFE ARTS & CRAFTS – FRIDAY 19 FEB
Victoria Park, 10am-12.30pm.
Join the Viccy Park rangers and create and decorate your own wind chimes, make daffodils and more. Then head over to East London’s best playground (in my humble opinion). Job done.
Good luck and have fun!
